FAQ

What is Broadist? Broadist is a personal style blog that aims to promote radical self acceptance by addressing broader bodies and minds – starting with our own. We want to continue to learn how to value ourselves, and help others to do the same. We want to look and feel maddddd fly. Most of all, we want to be a part of the conversation.

Where is Broadist based? We are based in California (Los Angeles + the Bay area) and Brooklyn, NY.

Who do you write for? Do you do anything else for work?

C: My work can be found in Brokelyn, Thought Catalog, Not for Tourists, and PopMatters, as well as in my personal blog, love + ruckus. In addition to writing, I work at a concert venue and an indie music PR company.

R: Most of my writing is either personal or academic, and some can be found on Grimy Goods or in the form of stupid Yelp reviews.

Where do you like to shop?

C: I don’t like to spend too much time at one store in particular, which is why I prefer thrifting - Re/Dress (Cobble Hill), Beacon’s Closet, Crossroads Trading Co., and Buffalo Exchange (all Williamsburg) get a lot of business from me. I like to pick up things here and there at boutiques in Brooklyn, vintage stores throughout my travels, and the slew of malls of New Jersey and Pennsylvania when I visit family. I am also really into swaps and have a soft spot for Urban Outfitters.

R: Sale racks, Los Angeles flea markets (Fairfax, PCC and Long Beach) and the internet.  Banana Republic, department stores, Uniqlo and ASOS too.  When I’m in LA, I love shopping on Melrose, Santee Alley and Abbot Kinney too.  I’m a big fan of small independent boutiques and craft fairs.  You’ll find me at H&M and Forever 21 too.

What blogs do you recommend? Check our Roll Call.

Height/weight/measurements? We both wear a US size 12 that can range anywhere from a 10 to a 16 depending. We’re also both a size 9 shoe. ~eerie~

How do I get a hold of you? All of our contact info is available in The Broads section!

You totally rule, but I totally rule too! How can I be on Broadist? Do you take submissions? Since Broadist is almost entirely original content, we don’t accept submissions in the traditional tumblr sense. Please email us if you have anything you’d like to share or if you’re interested in contributing. There’s also “Babes We Liked on the Internet” (every weekend) and “Introducing: A Broad.”

What is “Introducing: A Broad”? It is a space on Broadist where we feature people that we know (on and offline) that have a bangin’ sense of style. We want to get to the core of others who show unapologetic size-acceptance, body positivity, and cool style.

Why aren’t you following me? What the heck?! If you see the tumblrs “roxvrox” or “shadood” following you, just close your eyes and imagine that it’s broadist. Because, well, it is. That’s us.

What’s that thing on your arm?

C: A narwhal with some lyrics from the Blow. I also have a seahorse on my ribcage.

R: What? No, that’s just my arm.  I don’t have any tattoos.
